Mental Health Services

Overview

Our school offers counseling services as an additional resource to help your student succeed in their academic goals, as well as support social and emotional growth throughout the school year. All students work with the counselors. Our counseling team consists of Ms. Cynthia Eldridge, Marriage and Family Therapist, Ms. Kate Fritts, MFT trainee, and Ms. Sophia Latifi, Social Work trainee. Counseling sessions in a school setting are typically short-term in nature and focus on solutions to help your child succeed in all areas of their development.

Counseling activities can include individual or group counseling, whole class presentations, observations and we also get to work with therapy/facility dogs Lady and Beau. Many of these activities will focus on helping students learn ways to build positive social skills, gain confidence in their ability to interact with others, and learn ways to deal with problems and conflicts constructively.

Counseling sessions typically meet once a week for thirty (30) to fifty (50) minutes, at a time arranged with teachers.  Your student can be referred to additional counseling from a teacher, staff member or from you as a parent/guardian.  To make a referral, you may call the school or email me personally.  The office phone number is 916-395-4990.

Although counseling is required for students here at Success Academy, a permission slip/consent form for all counseling services will need to be signed by the student’s parent(s) or guardian(s) and returned to the counseling office before your child can begin being seen in counseling. In order to provide a more holistically therapeutic environment.  If your student already attends counseling from s, please let us know so that we can complete a release of information form so that counselor and I can share information for the betterment of your student.
